I'm looking at getting some new wheels and rotors with my tax money!! The wheels are 17*9.5's in the front and 18*10.5's in the rear. I want to run the same tire for the front and back and found Goodyear Eagle DSG3's in 275/40-17 for the front and 285/35-18's for the rears. Will that setup work and look good? I know people like to run 305 & 315's in the rear, but I think that's going to be too big for me.

I'd run the 315 in back with that size tire, you have an adjustable PHR so that won't be a problem. You might have to do a little modification to the bump stops either way with the 10.5" rim. It'll look good, but I know you're gonna spend a grip on some new GSD3's.

yea, for the price of the wheels and rotors, I could also get just 4 GSD3's....hahaha!!

EDIT - Would a 18*9.5 rear wheel fit better (without BFH mod) than the 18*10.5's?

Will the speedo have to be calibrated due to the bigger rear tire?

I have 18x10.5 in the rear with 285 and get alittle rub from time to time. I have cut the s%@t out of my bump stops, actually completely off. But thats not where I get the rub. I get that in the forward part of the inner wheel well.

Is your car lowered?

The 18x9.5 should fit like stock, just like the Z06 rims that were on my Z that I sold to Nova Joe. As for recaling the Speedo, depends on the tire size you go with.

To give you some ideas of tire sizes:
275/40/17 = Stock, 25.66"
285/35/18 = 25.85" tire, only .2" bigger, no recal needed
315/30/18 = 25.44", .2" smaller, no recal
305/35/18 = 26.4", recal recomended

Hope that helps a little

Maybe I'll hold out for the 18*9.5 since they are almost available will seem to fit better. Taking a hammer to my wheel wells just makes me nervous!!

I never took a hammer to mine, just a grinder. Now that the 9" is back there the 11" rims touch the stops again, but only at full extension when the car is lifted off the ground.

I have 18 10.5's and 17 9.5's sitting in the garage now with no tires on them. You're welcome to use them to check out the fitment if you want. They are the OEM Z06's in the corvette backspacing.

My car is not lowered, so I'm sure will make some difference.

I have two sets of C5 speedline Z06's no sale, just collected them all. I want to run my street tires on the 17's and my race tires on the 18's. But if you want to use them to figure out your fitment I'll let you use them. I don't need them till march. One set of the 17's have 295 Hoosiers on them the rest are empty. I can pretty much tell you where all your issues will be though, I've been racing on 295 17's and 315 18's for two years and I know all the rub spots. :-)

Well, I just put my name on the list to reserve 2 18*9.5's wheels for me. Now I'm thinking about running 18*9.5's in the front and 18*10.5's in the rear.

I found the offset for the 9.5", you want that to be 56mm. If you were going to run 11's in the back you'd want the 50mm.

I'm getting ready to run 18x8.5 and 18x10 in the rear on the ror and maybe a set of 15x10s for the special times...

Will I have issues with the ABS running these tire sizes?

255/40-17 (Front) & 295/35-18 (Rear)

I found some C5 Z06 wheels that I have been wanting for awhile and they are 17*8.5 fronts and 18*10.5 rears.

that's an odd size for the zo6's fronts are usually 9.5. Check the dia of the tire, if they are the same, then no issue

Yea, I know they are usually 17*9.5 but the guy that has these wheels I'm looking at is saying that the fronts are 17*8.5 so I want to make sure I don't have any issues with the ABS and stuff with running different size tires out back and up front.

You can still run a 275/40/17 on a 8.5" rim. It takes about an inch or more to actually mess up the sensors.

Really? I thought the biggiest I could go was 265. The guy is currently running 265's up front on his vette and he said that they stick out alittle so he recommended 255's, but this is also on a vette, not a Camaro.

Half inch smaller than stock, wouldn't matter that much. I'm running a 285/40/17 on stock SS's on the rear of the Z, no issues. We're only talking 10mm here, .393 inch.

You go up to 265 on an 8.5, Just got to make sure you get your Diameters close, You may end up going to a 45 aspect ratio on the front to get the front rear sizes right. Tire rack let's you see the specs for all the tires they sell, You can see diameter, width, and rev's mile. Rev's per mile is what you want fairly close. The wheels you are looking at must be aftermarket Z06's with a machined face if they are 8.5 wide.

I think the stock vette tires are 245 45's on 17's and 285 40's on 18's

So it looks like I'd be better off with the 245/45R17's and 295/35R18's as they make BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 tires or Firestone Firehawk's in both of those sizes and I would like the front's and rear's to match if at all possible.

Yeah, that's a good choice. just compare to the stock 275's you haveon the back now, it will throw your speedo off a small amount as well. the BFG's have a smaller treadwear rating than the FireStones which means they will wear faster but stick better. Compared to the 180 treadwear Kuhmo's I run, they should last forever!
